A life of exile in Vancouver, Canada

Today everyone’s worst nightmare picking someone up at an airport came true for me.

I had the day off and this morning I got up real early to pick up our friend from Denver, Tom, from London Heathrow aiport. I got there early, no problems with the subway. There was a huge mass of people there doing the same thing, it was a crazy morning. Anyway, I waited and waited – Tom never showed up!! Well, I was becoming extremely worried so I went to the information point who weren’t very helpful but after 30 minutes they did put a page out for him. I waited in the meeting area but still there was no sign of him. I went back to the information point, who was just as unhelpful and told me to go down to the United desk in check in. When I got to check in some hitler security person starting having a go at me saying that I shouldn’t be down there even though I was directed down there by his colleague.

Anyway, I decided to phone Tom’s cell on the off chance and he answered!! He was asleep in bed in Denver – he got the dates wrong….so, I had a wasted trip to the airport!! Well I was relieved that he was ok but kinda peed that I had a whole day off work for this.

Don and Steve at Camden LockTom was organized to meet Lei, his Chinese partner, from the airport later that evening but now that he was a day late I had to pick him up. So I went back home to do some work then went out to the aiport again. Thankfully Lei turned up at the airport without any problem and I got him home via the Heathrow Express.

In the evening we took Lei out to Camden Lock where we just had a walk round, then had an early night. The photos Don and Steve at Camden Lock shows Don and I on Camden Lock, what a cute one of us both, Lei took it.
