A life of exile in Vancouver, Canada

We celebrated Halloween when we were in the US but have never done it in the UK. I don’t think its celebrate in a way where we can appreciate it in London. Interesting story about a guy who had put together a pretend plane crash on his house, click here.

Poor Don was not feeling any better today. It was a very long day at work, they seem to be getting longer. This evening I went to Federal Express to post the remaining items left for our immigration application. We had forgot to send the photos, well they dropped out of my bag, and it [...]

Ok, its official, Don has a cold. Of course we didn’t do anything today, just stayed at home and looked after my poor honey!

Don and I went to the MacExpo at Olympia, it was quite good. It was in Olympia which is west of London and we got there by tube…no other way really. All the main companies were there and I managed to get to speak to a couple of them about buying education licensed software for [...]

At the end of the day I was packing stuff in my bag at work, in side it I found the photos that should have gone with our Canadian immigration application. They must have fallen out of our application folder into the bottom of my bag. Thinking we will have to go back to Federal [...]

This evening we went to Federal Express near Oxford Street and posted our Canadian immigration application to our lawyer in Toronto. It was quite an ordeal getting there with all the crowds at that time of night but certainly worth the effort to see it finally go. Phew!

Today Judith Shiendlin, better known as our beloved Judge Judy, is 64 today. I was interested to read that ITV is trying to hunt down TV show’s that have been lost, re-recorded over or never recorded at all [story: chortle]. While I am not interested in most British comedy I would certainly like to see [...]

Terrible news out of New York relating to the murder of a gay man [story: Gay City News]. This is the victims friendster profile. Why is this still happening in 2006?

Today is the 9th anniversary of the Jupiter 2 taking off from Earth, back on October 16th, 1997, as mankind’s first attempt to colonize Alpha Centauri. Unfortunately due to a weight problem with stowaway Dr Zachary Smith on board the space flight got diverted straight into a meteor storm and was thrown off course as [...]

This weekend was mainly devoted to getting our draft immigration application completed. It has taken a long time to complete this as a lot of information required meant researching back to our 18th birthdays! I had some PC problems, at the moment I don’t have Creative Suite on my mac, just on my PC and [...]

Tonight we are hearing about a plane crash in New York that was being flown by Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle. I was quite shocked when I heard the news as I immediately thought it was another 9/11. Even though this was still a disaster in itself it was kind of a relief it wasn’t any [...]

Most of today I helped set up a work event for tomorrow to launch an online volunteer database called Reach. It was very hard work as we had to put up a huge tent, tables, bunting and so on. I would have thought they would get butch porters to do this but that didn’t, its [...]

As it was the mid-autumn festival we went to Chinatown today. It actually happened on October 6th…so we were a couple days late. We went to Golden Dynasty for lunch, one of our favorite places to have Dim Sum. Then we did some shopping in the area mainly to get Moon Cake to take into [...]

Don and I went to see my parents this morning. The day didn’t start well when I overslept, I remember the alarm going off at 6.30 and turning to cuddle Don then the next thing I knew it was 8! Oh well, no problem really. The trains behaved themselves today and we were in Upminster [...]

The past two days at work have been pretty miserable. There is an exhibition for new students at the university called Freshers Fair, there are stands from departments and some interested external companies. For some bizarre reason they decided the would have it outside! Yes, outside at the beginning of October when the weather in [...]

One of my tasks of the week was refurbishing some old pictures I have of my parents. They were seriously tatty and to prevent them going further into dis-repair I decided they need some serious attention. I scanned in three pictures to a very high resultion on my computer, they needed some photoshopping since many [...]
